Harrison Plane Crash Site (near Palmer Lake, Colorado)

Plane wreckage.

Colorado History + Recommended Hike: Harrison Plane Crash (near Palmer Lake, Colorado).

After an arduous hike via the Ice Cave Trail...the remains of Captain Sidney Harrison's plane can be found. The adventure requires ~11 miles of hiking and about 2,000 feet of elevation gain.

Wreckage site and memorial.

Mr. Harrison was a WW II and Korean War veteran that went down in a bad snowstorm in 1952.

Memorial marker.

This is a tough hike on a trail that can be challenging to follow at times. I would suggest downloading a hiking app that provides waypoints and GPS tracking.
