Green Mountain Falls Skyspace by James Turrell (Green Mountain Falls, Colorado)

Skyspace.

Recommended Colorado Activity: Green Mountain Falls Skyspace by James Turrell (Green Mountain Falls, Colorado).

Green Mountain Falls is quickly becoming an artistic mecca, with Skyspace being a notable work that can not only be visited, but also experienced. According to the Skyspace website: "Be enveloped in a kinetic light and color encounter—a sensory and contemplative experience unlike anywhere else in the world. The Skyspace stands at 18-feet-tall and is one of the few in the world with a retractable roof, allowing for “closed roof” shows to occur outside of our Sunrise and Sunset experiences."

Artist information.

Approaching the Skyspace entrance where shoes are taken off.

Currently, sunrise and sunset shows are available on select days...for $5. Outside of the formal shows, the Green Mountain Falls Skyspace is open to the public free of charge...with the roof on.

Cameras are not allowed within the work of art, so you'll have to go yourself to see inside.

Just a heads-up! The short ~3/4 mile trail to Skyspace is pretty steep. Consider bringing water and wearing shoes with decent tread.
